CuratorCórtex Frontal and LEA – Lab of Experimental Art
BICO 2025 is the first exhibition of the artistic exchange programme between Portugal and Spain run by Córtex Frontal (Arraiolos) and LEA – Lab of Experimental Art (Madrid). It presents works by 18 artists living in the two countries, selected through an open call.
The proposed theme, flying, is a shared starting point. The aim is not to illustrate flight but to use it as a conceptual structure: moving, crossing limits, occupying other spaces, imagining new forms of relationship. The works approach flight as a physical, political, symbolic or emotional gesture, reflecting on mobility, lightness, distance, risk or the urge to set off.
After the exhibition, four of the artists will be selected for an artist residency in the other country.
