Embroidery residency (ES-PT). Córtex Frontal organises embroidery residencies for Portuguese and Spanish artists, with the aim of encouraging the use of embroidery in contemporary art practice.

The New Borders residency brought together a group of Spanish and Portuguese visual artists with embroidery teacher Maite Ortega for six days at Córtex Frontal.

The residency included: daily embroidery sessions (the line, the stain, volume, embroidery on alternative supports, personal projects); artist talks presenting the work of the artists and of artist and teacher Filipe Rocha da Silva; study visits to CITA (Arraiolos Rug Interpretation Centre) and workshops; taking part in the symposium Ponto, Textile arts in perspective; a guided visit to the exhibition A linha está ocupada, organised by //O ARMÁRIO// in collaboration with Córtex Frontal; taking part in the events of the week O Tapete está na rua.
